Home & Design Show in Layers

It was an early start for us this morning as we looked forward to the heading down to the Vancouver Home & Design Show at the Vancouver Convention Centre West.   I love spending the day with the hubby, especially being able to head around town even just for a trade show or even just window shopping on South Granville.

We started off our day by having brunch at Meat and Bread on Cambie & Hastings, a place that’s almost always guaranteed to be packed! Their sandwiches albiet simple are delicious!  After a filling lunch, we got coffee in nearby gastown, touristy but a fun place to visit if you ever get a chance!

I knew that though we would be walking around somewhat, majority of the time would be spent indoors at the tradeshow so instead of wearing a thick jacket, i figured i’d layer up in case it gets warm after walking around.

IMG_8114I love the fit and flare dress in the “scuba” fabric, which is pretty much like the neoprene craze still found in dresses, tops and more.  It’s a short sleeve dress that’s versatile enough for work or leisure day out, and even to layer.  Today i layered it with one of my favorite sweaters which i found to be a steal from Forever 21, a cable knit sweater I bought with a 40% off coupon.  It’ pretty warm enough on it’s own but coupled with my new favorite quilted vest from Banana Republic, it gives me the warmth I need to walk around outdoors to get my coffee and back to the car, but not too warm heading inside to the convention.  It also gave me the option of having to take the vest off once we got inside, though I never really felt the need to.

We briefly walked around Restoration Hardware and Pottery Barn then heading down to Sport Chek so that the hubby could get new hockey skates.  All in all a somewhat long but fun day…
